The first half of this program features music to mark ANZAC Day, 25th April, the day on which, in 1915, the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps landed at Gallipoli, Turkey, and were defeated by the Turkish army.  This is a national day of remembrance of those Australians and New Zealanders who have lost their lives in the service of their countries in all wars.

The music is taken predominantly from Jason and Chloe Roweth’s Australian album, “The Riderless Horse:  An Australian Impression of World War 1” and from a similarly – themed  album, “Far, Far From Ypres: Songs, Poems and Music of World War 1” produced by Greentrax Recordings. and featuring material relating to the British involvement, and particularly to the Scottish experience.

Tracks from “The Riderless Horse” are:-BOYS OF THE DARDANELLES / BILLY HUGHES / DINKI DI / TAKE ME BACK TO DEAR OLD AUSSIE / HANGING ON THE OLD BARBED WIRE / HIC JACET.  This is an independent release.

Tracks from “Far, Far From Ypres” are:- YOUR KING AND COUNTRY NEED YOU* / LIVING IN A TRENCH / MINOR WORRIES / RAINING / OH! IT’S A LOVELY WAR! / HUSH! HERE COMES THE WHIZZ BANG / I DON’T WANT TO BE A SOLDIER / FAR, FAR FROM WIPERS I LONG TO BE / THE BELLS OF HELL / IN FLANDERS FIELDS* / IN MEMORIUM*.  Iain Anderson performs on the spoken word tracks, (asterisked), while the others are from the Scottish Pals Singers.  These are all very brief tracks, from 5 seconds to one and a half minutes.  Other performers on the album are Robin Laing ( GEORDIE MCCRAE), and Sheena Wellington and Karine Polwart (HALLOWE’EN).
